Have you ever been in search of a nude lipstick, picked one, wore it for the first time and realized you instantly became related to Casper the friendly ghost? As a former makeup artist, how to pick a nude lipstick ranks high on the list of frequently asked questions. As a quick fix I say add a liner and keep it moving but there are some nudes that cant be saved.
Women of color seem to have this issue more often because the makeup industry’s color ranges still have not fully encompassed all of our beautiful skin tones. The good news is that options are becoming more and more available. The even better good news is that women of color are creating options for us by us.
I have put together a mixture of lipsticks, liquid lipsticks and glosses that are my go to when I want to wear a beautiful nude lip. Check them out below.

Charlotte Tilbury – Pillow Talk
So many people nudes only include varying shades of brown. False! This color is the perfect pink that can flatter the darkest and lights skin tones.

Fenty – Unveil
When I first saw this color I instantly thought of a chocolate bar. It is so saturated and the matte finish is not drying. The perfect combo!

Fenty – Fenty Glow
This was the first lip gloss when Fenty launched and it is still perfection. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Ashton
Believe it or not this was the first nude shade I bought that worked for me and started my love for the nude lip.

Mented – Brown Bare Matte
One of the many reasons I love the Mented line is that it was founded by two women of color who wanted to make a inclusive beauty line. What’s not to love about that.

Mongael – Whirly Girl
I had to include this line. My fellow Chicagoan has created this color that is truly universal.
There you have it ladies. Buy one or buy them all – I support all! You will look amazing no matter which one you choose . Did I miss any? Share your go to lip color in the comments. I can always add to my collection!
